  At the invitation of Mr Nakharin Mektrairat, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Thailand, a delegation led by Chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Union U Aung Zaw Thein, attended the 6th Congress and meeting of board member countries of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts (AACC) and Equivalent Institutions, held from 17 to 21 September in Bangkok. The title of the congress was “The Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions in Strengthening Constitutional Justice for a Sustainable Society”.

  The 6th AACC Congress and meeting were attended by chairs of constitutional courts and similar institutions, chief justices, legal experts, and heads of international organizations from 18 countries.

  On 18 September, the opening ceremony of the Congress and the meeting of the board member countries took place. The three Permanent Secretariats presented their activity reports and discussed issues related to the development of the AACC, previous processes, and the Bangkok Declaration to be released at the end of the conference.

  On 19 September, the Congres continued, featuring a discussion led by the chairman of the tribunal titled “The Role of the Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions in Strengthening Constitutional Justice for a Sustainable Society,” focusing on the development of the constitutional system, the role of constitutional courts in protecting the constitution, constitutional jurisdiction, and constitutional justice. Chairs, chief justices, and jurists also exchanged views and experiences on constitutional tribunals in their respective countries.

  The chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Union returned to Yangon by air on 21 September.
